BAUMÜLLER: THE DS3-160W THREE-PHASE SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR HAS AN ALUMINUM HOUSING WITH INTEGRATED COOLING CONCEPT

The motor has an impressive aluminum housing in which the cooling ducts for the liquid cooling are integrated. The number and arrangement of the water connections have been optimized still further.

Thanks to the optimized cooling ducts, the pressure drop in the motor’s cooling circuit reduces by up to 80 percent. This means that smaller pumps can be used in the cooling unit. This has a positive effect on the total costs of ownership (TCO), since the acquisition costs for the pump system are reduced and therefore electricity costs for operation of the pump are saved. Resource consumption during manufacture of the motor is also reduced, which makes contributes to a more sustainable, smaller product carbon footprint (PCF). An important factor, in order to reduce energy and resource consumption in the long-term, including for the overall machine.

Thanks to the intelligent material selection, the motor weight is reduced significantly, which leads to reduced loading of the machine’s mechanics. Apart from using new motors, the changeover from DS2-160W to DS3-160W motors is also very easy to do, since the mechanical interfaces and performance data are virtually identical.
