Nabtesco at SPS 2021

Nabtesco is the world’s biggest manufacturer of cycloidal gears and much in demand as a partner for robotics and automation. From 23 – 25 November 2021 the gear specialist will present the company’s extensive precision portfolio at SPS in Nuremberg. Highlights will include the innovative servo gearboxes of the Neco® series, as well as an update on the project “The world’s most precise robot”.

In early summer 2020 Nabtesco introduced a new era in cycloidal gears with the introduction of the Neco® series. These precision solid shaft gears were developed specifically with customer requirements in mind and are setting standards with respect to performance, flexibility, user convenience, design and efficiency. It did not take long for the innovative concept to become a model for success.

But Covid-19 has thus far made it impossible to present the pioneering servo gears at a trade fair. Nabtesco is now making up for this. At SPS 2021 the gear specialist with European headquarters in Düsseldorf will present the entire Neco® family in all five sizes (25, 42, 80, 125 and 160) as well as the two available housing types (bolted connection from the motor side or application side).

Precise in any size
True to the motto “Precise in any size” Nabtesco – in hall 3A at booth 426 – will also present other solutions from the company’s diverse portfolio. Visitors can look forward for example to an update to the project “The world’s most precise robot”. The goal of the cooperation between Nabtesco and the controller expert KEBA is to allow customers to manufacture robots with point and path accuracy down to hundredths of a millimetre.

A new feature is the integration of condition monitoring in the robot controller on the basis of real gear data with reference to serial numbers. The additional function enables an individual snapshot of the robot utilisation, which in turn can be used to assess the remaining life of the gearbox. This opens up exciting new possibilities for robot, machine and plant engineers.

Cycloidal gears offer unbeatable advantages
Whether for mechanical engineering, robotics, electric vehicles, medical technology or intralogistics: Wherever exact positioning and absolute reliability are required, cycloidal gears are the first choice. Transmission of forces via cams and rollers ensures high efficiency, a long life and extremely low backlash, with a hysteresis loss between 0.5 and 1 arcmin, at the most. In addition, their special design achieves excellent behaviour with respect to dynamics, load capacity and smooth operation.

The gears perform flawlessly even in high-precision positioning applications with heavy loads or very fast and abrupt motions. The integrated angular ball bearings absorb both axial and radial loads and bending moments, and provide for high torsional rigidity and resistance to impacts and overloading (up to 500 % of the rated torque).
